The Basic Structure of a Wedding Ceremony
I’m sure that even those that are married can’t remember what is involved in a Wedding Ceremony. What comes first? When do you exchange rings? What makes it legal? Well, when you think about it, the whole day is a whirlwind. That’s why you hire photographers and videographers right??
Well let me put it to bed for you. There is no right or wrong. Your Celebrant will guide you so that it is all legal and ensure you say the magic words that make it so. But……just to give you a head start, here is a basic structure as a guideline. Think of it as a starting point that you can chop and change to suit your personality and your relationship and that might make your wedding that little bit more unique!
Houskeeping (that’s me giving your guests the run down)
Processional (the walk down the aisle)
Welcoming (A little introduction)
Your Story (this is all about you both)
Reading (someone will read a poem or other)
Monitum (this is my legal bit)
The Asking (Do you…?)
Vows (there are some more legal words here)
Ring Exchange (With this ring…..)
I Now Pronounce (You Made It!)
Signing the Register (You and your witnesses)
Conclusion (That’s a Wrap)
Presentation (Mr and Mrs, here come the kisses)
Recessional (walk back down the aisle married)
So that is pretty much it! You don’t have to have a ring exchange, a reading or even do the asking. You do however, have to be comfortable with it. Make it yours, you only do this once apparently, so do it the way you want.
